All Things Christmas
Every year when Christmas rolls around, I can’t wait to pull out my boxes of ribbon, garland, and sparkle. Decorating for the holidays is pure joy for me — it’s when my home feels the most magical, cozy, and full of love. Over the years, I’ve found a few favorite Christmas essentials that I reach for again and again: beautiful wired ribbon, sharp scissors, and lush garland. With those three things, I can make just about anything feel festive.
If you know me, you know ribbon is my love language. I use it everywhere — on Christmas trees, wrapped gifts, wreaths, and garlands. My favorite kinds of ribbon are always wired because they hold their shape so well and make the prettiest, most luxurious bows. I love striped ribbon, classic plaid ribbon, and argyle designs that add a traditional touch. I also can’t resist a good appliqué ribbon for a bit of personality and whimsy. Whether I’m tying bows on greenery or layering ribbons on gifts, the right wired ribbon instantly elevates everything.

Every decorator has their secret tools, and mine are simple but essential — a pair of sharp craft scissors, floral wire, and twist ties. Good scissors are a must when you’re working with wired ribbon, especially for those clean angled cuts that make bows look professional. I keep multiple pairs around during the holidays because I’m always snipping ends, trimming garland, or fine-tuning bows until they look just right.

Garland is another holiday staple I can’t live without. It’s where I get to be creative and mix textures and patterns. I start with lush evergreen garland and then layer in wired ribbon, appliqués, and small ornaments for extra sparkle. My favorite look combines traditional Christmas colors with subtle texture — think plaid ribbon with a velvet stripe or a touch of argyle. I love draping garland down my staircase, across the mantel, or framing doorways so every corner of my home feels festive and full.

My best decorating advice? Start early, stay organized, and never underestimate the power of ribbon. Truly — a beautiful bow can make anything look special. Whether you’re styling a Christmas tree, wrapping gifts, or creating your own garland, layering ribbon and texture is what brings everything to life. Christmas decorating doesn’t have to be complicated — just gather your favorites, add some sparkle, and have fun making your home feel like the holidays.
